Exciting news at Hawk!


We are pleased to announce the following new additions to the Hawk team:

John Kenny recently joined as CEO. John has more than 25 years of leadership and operational experience in the specialty chemicals and building products industries. He has a history of successfully growing businesses in several different business environments - large corporations, private equity and private ownership. John started his career with Ciba-Geigy, a large Swiss specialty chemical company, where he held a variety of roles with increasing responsibility. He also held senior leadership roles at Genovique Specialties and Mayzo, both specialty chemicals companies, and at Aristech Surfaces, a building products manufacturer. A native of Ireland, John holds a B.Sc in Chemistry, Mathematics and Mathematical Physics and an MBA in Marketing and International Business.

Dr. Mak Joshi has joined us as Vice President of Research & Development to lead our product development and technical support areas. Mak has over 25 years of experience in the industrial coatings and specialty chemicals industries. He has a unique combination of expertise in both core product research and development as well as product application experience. Working with Jim Gibson and Susan Nyborg, Mak will focus on new products that continue to meet all of the evolving environmental regulations, provide step function improvements in current performance characteristics, and some that offer completely new benefits to our industry. Mak has both a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.S. in Chemical Technology (with a major in Textile Chemistry) from the University of Bombay and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Alabama.

Susan Nyborg has joined us as our new Director of Compliance and Safety. Susan has over 20 years of practical regulatory experience in environmentally sensitive markets including work with manufacturers of solvent based ink products. Susan has significant experience with many of the regulations, regulatory and compliance organizations we have or could possibly interact with at the state, regional, federal, or international level, including OSHA, CPSC, EPA, LHAMA, FHSA, IATA, IDG, DOT, CONEG, ASTM, California Proposition 65, Canadian CCCR 2001, and the FDA. Additionally, she has experience with the transportation of dangerous goods. Susan has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Chicago.
